HOW DOES IT WORK?

Blister pack packaging is comprised of preformed clear plastic cavities used for packaging small consumer goods, foods, and pharmaceuticals.

The components of a blister pack consist of a cavity or pocket made from clear plastic and a backing, often a paperboard card.
A mold is produced for manufacturing a cavity made of clear PVC.
The plastic is heated and vacuum-formed over the mold.
Your graphic insert card printer and fulfillment company can add hang holes to the blister card making them easy to display.
The backing or card allows space for graphics and product information to show through, along with the product itself.

TYPES OF BLISTER PACKAGING

Face-Seal Blister Packaging

The most economical type is used to package small, lightweight products, but can work with larger products as well. It’s manufactured with a cavity designed to fit a product’s specific dimensions. A small flange flows from the cavity and this flange is the portion that is sealed onto the blister card. Often, a heat seal process is used to secure the flange to the card to provide a sealed compartment that displays and protects the product. In addition, the card itself provides all the information necessary for the product.

Trapped Blister Packaging

This type combines some of the best qualities of clamshell blisters and blisters to create a solution with a lot of space for graphics while still featuring a clear window to display the product. This hybrid package features a thermoformed blister sealed between two cards making it ideal for heavier or bulkier items.
